Facility Cleaning and Maintenance Checklist

Inspections of the facility’s maintenance should be done at least once a quarter. Depending on your work environment, a simplified version of your quarterly inspection can work for monthly, weekly, and daily inspections. Make sure you have checklists for each type of inspection to ensure you’re examining the proper areas.

The following are some standard elements to put on your checklist, whether you are making it for the first time or you’re looking to upgrade your current facility cleaning and maintenance checklist:

  1. Check for damages on:

  6. Ensure proper stacking of items
  7. Ensure proper working of vehicles
  8. Ensure proper working forklifts
  9. Ensure fuel in vehicles
  10. Confirm all company vehicle key’s location
  11. Ensure properly working dock doors
  12. Examine safety equipment condition and inventory for:
    • Foot protection
    • Eye protection
    • Hard hats
    • High-visibility clothing
    • Safety gloves
  1. Confirm condition and location of tools
  2. Ensure proper electrical equipment and cords for all required grounds
  3. Ensure proper working electrical receptacles, switch, and control panels, and labeled switches
  4. Ensure flammable liquids are in containers, labeled, and stored correctly and safely
  5. Ensure fire extinguishers are in their proper place and inspected regularly
  6. Ensure the fire sprinkler system’s proper testing and working
  7. Ensure first-aid kits’ availability and stocking
  8. Ensure emergency exit signs are working and present
  9. Ensure adequate supplies in the reception area
  10. Ensure adequate supplies in the office
  11. Ensure clean and plenty of water in the water cooler
  12. Ensure full stock in bathrooms
  13. Ensure proper working appliances in bathrooms such as:
    • Hand dryers
    • Dispensers
    • Toilets
    • Sinks
  1. Ensure full stock in the kitchen
  2. Ensure proper working fixtures and kitchen appliances, including:
    • Garbage disposals
    • Microwaves
    • Dishwashers
    • Kettles
    • Sinks
    • Stoves
    • Refrigerators
